Short Courses

 

Are you interested in learning some jewellery making skills, but want to try it first, before committing to a six week course?

Or maybe you do not have the time to commit to a full course at the moment?

If this sounds like you, then you may want to come to one of our short courses.

You can learn basic jewellery making skills and produce a piece or two of jewellery to take home with you.
No experience is necessary apart from the Keum-Boo  course where the requirement is completion of “Introduction to Jewellery Making Skills Stage 1 and 2” and or demonstrated basic jewellery making skills.

Each Class is a one-off three or four hour class. Some courses may have more than one class.

Hammered Bangle 

  • Come and make a beautiful sterling silver hammered bangle.
  • Skills learned include soldering, hammering and polishing.
  • No experience necessary, all tuition and equipment is provided.  
  • You can purchase extra silver to make another bangle and or a hammered ring on the day.

Stacked Rings  

  • Come and make a set of stacking rings and learn some  basic jewellery making skills.  
  • Skills covered in this class include; ring bending and sizing, soldering and filing, texturing metal, using hammers,  sanding, polishing and finishing.
  • Suitable for beginners and intermediate students.
  • Expect to make 3-4 bands to take home.

Silver Textured Earrings

  • Come and learn to craft beautiful custom textured earrings using a range of processes.
  • Learn to finish earrings to a retail standard.
  • Learn how to create contrast on sterling silver through oxidation.
  • Make three pairs of earrings with different textured surfaces including roller printing and hammering.
  • Skills covered in this class include;  roller printing and hammering, sawing, drilling and basic design.
  •  Suitable for beginners or intermediate students.

Keum-Boo  

  • The ancient Korean technique, Keum Boo involves fusing wafer thin 24ct gold to fine silver.
  • In this four-hour class, you will create two pieces of jewellery (two pairs of earrings or one pair of earrings and one pendant) and learn how to roll 24ct gold to the correct thickness and fuse it to fine silver using heat. Keum Boo brings jewellery to another level by adding a beautiful, rich gold colour without the expense.
  • You must have completed “Introduction to Jewellery Making Skills Stage 1 “and or have basic jewellery making skills to enrol for this course.
  • The class cost includes all materials: 24ct gold, fine silver, sterling silver earring hooks and a sterling silver chain. Extra gold, silver and findings are available for purchase.

As well as taking away the stress, you will also learn valuable skills such as roller-printing, oxidising and hammer texturing. These skills can be utilised in your own practice for years to come and can provide a beautiful addition to pieces that need that extra detail.
