Philip Noakes, Goldsmith and Silversmith, Director of Contemporary Metal

Philip Noakes is our creative and technical lead as well as Director of our studio. He has deep technical knowledge of jewellery making and silversmithing and vast international experience.

Originally trained as a Silversmith at Sir John Cass College of Art, London, he was awarded a highly sought after Apprenticeship of Excellence by The Goldsmiths’ Company, which is well respected in the UK. During his career in England, Philip worked in Hatton Garden, London – the key trade area for jewellery, silversmithing and precious gems. He also worked for esteemed architect, designer and goldsmith, Louis Osman, developing private commissions and church plate. Louis was best known for the gold crown he designed and made for the investiture in 1969 of Charles, Prince of Wales.

Philip came to Australia in 1975 and has worked with jewellers Eric Car and Tony White as well as establishing his own gallery and workshop in Sydney in the 1980s and being the lead designer and jeweller for Kailis Pearls when it was first established in Fremantle, Western Australia. Philip was made a Fellow of the Institute of Professional Goldsmiths, London in 2016 (the highest level of membership that can be attained), in the category of Silversmith.

 

Robyn Barrow, General Manager

Robyn Barrow is our General Manager and runs all our managerial processes including marketing, financial and business planning, organising events, course registrations, studio management and course enquiries etc.

Robyn has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Monash University and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Melbourne University. She has extensive management experience in both the Public and Private sectors
